The impact of the Covid-19 outbreak requires a change in the business paradigm that goes beyond the current moment. Perhaps this pandemic has brought the opportunity that many organizations lacked to reposition themselves and/or accelerate their digital transformation, reviewing their processes in order to make them more agile.
In these weeks, a lot has been published, with more or less humor, but as far as this article is concerned, there was a sharing that I consider very opportune:
In fact, the correct answer is aliena c). It was not the company's leader, nor the person responsible for the digital transformation, it was Covid-19 that decided the moment of organizational change.
Technology has been the antivirus or vaccine found to keep the economy alive. Digital is assumed to be the “right arm” of organizations so that they can continue their business.
Technology has been the vaccine found to keep the economy alive
Many organizations have had to implement 'gross' solutions, and other 'brutal' solutions. These are completely different results, starting with the definition of the two words in question.
The first solution – 'raw' – is crude, remedied and inefficient, it is like a plaster on a wound that needs to be disinfected and properly treated. A 'brutal' solution, on the other hand, is an efficient, effective solution, which, due to the speed of implementation, costs and results, positions the organization as more capable of adapting to the paradigm that is being created.
The new reality or – I dare to write – paradigm, shows us that teleworking, the digitization and automation of processes and the robotization of production are keeping organizations active and productive as never before.
Digital transformation is now imperative. It's the ideal time to get out of your comfort zone and open up new horizons. Organizations must know how to manage the processes of cultural change so that they can implement their strategies.
The exponential and sudden growth of telework implied a change in business dynamics, as organizations had to invent conditions/tools so that their employees could perform, if not all, at least most of their functions.
One of these tools is access to documentation. Paper is no longer accessible anytime, anytime, instead of digital, which is now available just a simple click away.
The digitization of documentation proved to be vital to ensure the “normal” business operation, because only in this way is it possible to securely access all the documentation necessary for the exercise of its functions. Furthermore, there is the great advantage that a document can be accessed by several collaborators at the same time and at any time or place.
It has been said a lot that there is a Before and After coronavirus and I have no doubts that the definitive entry of SMEs into society 5.0 will be the result of this pandemic, marked by digital transformation and the use of technologies. The technology was already available, but many organizations had not yet changed their mindset for this behavioral change.
Before Covid-19, we have to remove its positive side and not forget what we are learning with these new routines and, above all, that the balanced use of technology brings us immense advantages and solutions.
As the people say, to stop is to die, so it's time to run, but as always in the right direction.
